The above link is to the Ashton Manual… if you print it out and ask your doctor to read it if he/she isn't familiar with it, that's the best thing you can do to educate your doctor.

Best of luck at your appointment!  Don't be surprised if your doc pooh-poohs the manual however.  It's most important you continue to get refills until your taper is done.

Hello Pan,

What is it you are nervous about? From your signature you have been off for over 2 years. Are you still having troubling w/d symptoms that far out that you are just now seeing the doctor about? Hope they are able to help you feel better or rule something out to give you peace of mind. Take care!

Innadaze,

Yeah, I caught that 2-years-off K in the signature, too. Inconsistent use over a year or so? I am also curious what the problem might be...

Hi:

I find Wikipedia's Benzodiazapine Withdrawal Symtrom very detailed and easy to read. It goes step by step, telling you what benzos do, what symptoms you might experience and for how long, and which drugs may be bad during withdrawal, among many other things. It's not just made up, to the best of their knowledge, like a regular dictonary; it sights 150 studies, books, etc to back up their claims. It even uses The Ashton Manual as a reference. Benzogirl

I wish you luck . What do you want your doctor to do for you? I have seen every specialist I believe there is, had ever test , asked each doctor and nurse looking for validation,  no luck with the doctors, they have almost all wanted to put me back on Rx and the neurologist told my sx were anxiety and wanted to put me on effexor.  I have thought about giving them material to read but the response has been so blah, I haven't done it.

Don't let my negative experience, or any one else stop you from getting any benzo material out. Your doc may be receptive and become your best supporter.
