Burning Mouth...? What next, huh? Need suggestions

Geez, like I needed a new symptom. The last week Ive had increasing of a burning sensation in my mouth, on  my lips. It is quite uncomfortable and is making eating difficult. Ive read a couple posts about Burning Mouth Syndrome, and read the Wiki on it....dont know if this qualifies or not.

Ive had weird mouth issues all along, sensitive gums, itchy gums (yes - itchy!) and some tooth pain. But now its worse, and I need ideas on how to combat it. I already use a

sensitive teeth" toothpaste, and that only helps for 30 minutes. I am assuming this is just another crazy withdrawal symptom. I dont have dry mouth, if anything, I have too much saliva. My teeth are not in good shape, thanks to lack of money, but I take care of them pretty well. Im reduced now to only eating really soft bland food, and man, is it boring!

I already take an MVI, chelated Magnesium,  Vitamin C, Vit B12 shots, Remeron and recently started Seroquel for sleep. (I had been on it before and had no problems-).

Any ideas on how to soothe this would be greatly appreciated, including even soft foods that actually taste good!

:). I keep up with you.

What I was thinking is that antibiotics can cause yeast infections, especially in the mouth. It would cause a lot of burning. My mom gets these each time she is put on an antibiotic.

Oh - youre smart! I looked, and if anything it looks more red, but thats probably because Im constantly "checking" it with my tongue. Damn, this is kinda gross to discuss. A yeast infection - wouldnt that cause the tongue to look whitish? Im not thinking like a nurse today. Im in civilian clothes.

Haha! You're funny. I love that you always keep your sense of humor.

Yes, it would go white, but it could also be red.

I'm not sure if any food bothers you, but you could try eating yogurt or drinking cranberry juice.

Hope it gets better.

Hair that hurts? Oh dear.....Mine's gone rather dry but I can live with that.

Baking soda - ok, thats an idea.

Someone suggested making smoothies....any suggestions on what to put in it that doesnt cost much? I have pistachi ice cream right now! But no bananas...do have milk and half-and-half and yes, I need to gain weight. LOL

No - this is embarassding but Ive lost enough teeth that chewing anything is kind of hard. But my friend who suggested smoothies inspired me, and I just made one with ice cream. Not bad, and its nice and cold. Next time Ill add some peanut butter for more protein. And maybe a few green beans (yucky idea, but...)

Hahaha!

And I meant it's good that you found a solution, not the teeth thing. That would be difficult.

And if your hair starts hurting, then you definitely went over the deep end, as you would say. Haha

You sure I havent gone off the deep end?!?

Im not so sure!

Hair hurting - I have not heard of that one but Id believe just about anything now. Aliens crawling out of someones ears wouldnt even cause me to hesitate. Id be saying "Oh, its ok, its just a common withdrawal sysmptom! You can relax! Let the aliens dance on your head!!"

Oh god Im losing it tonight. SO tired.

Well, sh...t, I guess Im doomed...the aliens are in there working as I type. I hear they have a connection to that cesspool guy - they may be working as moles, culling  cool information about our inner thoughts and symptoms, so Mr cesspool can blog about it all. I better check his site later, Ill prbably get quoted! And its ALL the aliens fault!!!

Hi East,

I start my day with a smoothie. I put 1/2 cut coconut milk, 1/2 cup grape juice, a handful of spinach, a frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup nuts ( raw almonds, walnuts or cashews) and some ginger in the vitamix. I blend til smooth and enjoy. It has been my go to breakfast as nothing really sounds good anymore.

Carita, that sounds, uh, interesting. You lost me with the spinach, tho. And I only have a rather weak blender, it doesnt like to crush ice, much less nuts. Hmm... come to think of it, I do have a mini-cuisinart I got at a yard sale....I could gring the nuts up in that. I know I have almonds...think Ill go give this a try.

Normally I have no problem thinking about what to eat! I guess cog fog AND the burning mouth are problems right now.

Oh East!  I have struggle with fungal infections most of my life.  It is so chronic now that it does not have the same symptoms as traditional doctors recognize.  My specialist is totally familiar with this tho'.  Yes, it will make your gums red, your tongue white and red...my daughter gets this really bad. We can't take antibiotics without taking antifungals and strong ones.  This is definitely possible in your case I think. What I have researched is that Benzos and wd cause the fungus/yeast to get worse.  Most people only think of the location that they talk about when they advertise Canesten... NOT so.  We have it in our entire GI tract, including the mouth,, and also scalp..so many places.  The heavy mod exposure also made all this much worse.  The wd made it go nuts for me.  It takes research because traditional medicine does not recognize it in this form, like they don't recognize Lyme or benzo wd...lucky me, lucky us...If you want to 'discuss' (God so oldfashioned) this at all, pm me...(or just to say hi and commiserate?)

Probiotics can be taken to offset yeast infections. When we take antibiotics it also kills healthy bacteria we need to control the yeast. We all have yeast on us and in us. We also have bacteria (good) that keeps the yeast from getting out of control. Probiotics replace the good bacteria that is killed by antibiotics. Probiotics should not be taken within two hours of taking an antibiotic

I just looked, again - and there are no white patches anywhere in there. My tongue looks a little redder, but Im pretty sure thats because Ive gotten into a weird habit of constantly worrying at my teeth and dealing with the excess saliva. My lips burn, too, and - this is a weird one - they peel these thin little strips of skin all the time! This has been happening a couple weeks. AND for monthes Ive had cracks at both corners of the mouth. God, this stuff is so weird!! I was reading something about Stevie Nicks, who was quoted as saying that during her Klonapin withdrawal, her skin "molted." At the time, I remember thinking maybe she was imagiing this. But - that is exactly what my lips are doing...molting skin!

I must have an larger-than-average number of gaba receptors in my mouth, and all of them are trying so hard to heal.

Really?!? You're the only other person Ive found that has this one. I guess Stevie Nicks was telling the truth, huh?

Do your lips either burn or hurt or feel raw?
