Please help: Did a rapid withdrawl from restoril (thanks to wrong advice of Pdoc) and now feeling horrible.  Ive been on restoril for 2 months at 30mg (daily), went down to 15mg overnight and all hell broke loose in a few days.  Anxiety, blurred vision, tinnitus (both ears), horrible insomnia, totally out of it, DP/DR.  I updosed back to 30mg, a bit better but not that much.  Am I screwed?  Will I have these symptoms for months/years?  Going to see a taper specialist doc on 4/18.  Any advice appreciated.!

Hi goga,

The chances are good that you won't have to deal with these symptoms for months.  The odds are in your favor that these won't happen for long.

The good thing is you're

here and have access to all kinds of support and information.  Not to mention that you're already lined up to get some medical advice as well.  I think it's so important to feel like we're getting support from all principles who need to be involved.

I wish I had some more specific info about restoril but I smothered that drug in so much xanax I couldn't tell you if I was affected by it in any way.

Hang in there man, this stuff is a load for sure.... :tickedoff:

Hi BeauBeau, I did a slow taper off of Restoril,(temazepam) in 5 months but I was on the drug for over 15 years. If you were only taking it for 2 months consider yourself lucky to have found this group now and along with  your  desire to get off this drug you will probably be fine if you take it slowly

There was some withdrawals to deal with, I too had blurred vision and insomnia along with horrible night sweats and DR/DR, and other withdrawals. Some have it much easier than others and hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones due to the short period of time you were on the drug although one can become dependent on benzos within 2 weeks. It is highly unlikely that you will suffer any protracted withdrawal, just take it slower and listen to your body.

Restoril is in capsules which do twist apart and you can mix the powder in water to taper off that way which is what worked for me.

You can do this

HI ladygrace: I have all the WD symptoms you are talking about just taking it for 2 months.  The night sweats are horrible, the tinnitus is horrible, im still taking the drug until i get some good advice from a taper doctor.  the blurred vision and dp/dr and anxiety is terrible.  also, pdoc put me on lexapro (ssri) since he feels im really depressed....thats probably not helping.
