Anyone Taking a Multivitamin

Recommended Posts

I was told by an addiction specialist that I should take a daily multivitamin. I'm a little nervous because of what I've read about some supplements in withdrawal.

Any positive or negative stories would be appreciated.

Hcokey- it can be tough...i know in the first month of wd it was very hard taking a multi vitamin, it def revvs up symptoms, that being said, i believe it helped me tremendously in recovery, i slept better, had a better appetite, and sometimes it gave me a little more clarity.  i would give it a try, but know it could revv things up, which is a sign your body is healing.:) good luck!

I'm still in my taper from 4mg xanax to .25, and the multi vitamin is a must for me. It helps so so much. I'm a nutritionist and trainer for a living, and I could not see getting through withdrawl without my supplements. Its so good for you. I'm just going to make a suggestion, but amazing greens or alive are the best. Glad your healing so well. Keep up the awesome work.

I take one every day plus a B complex. No problem what so ever. Too many scary tales on the internet.

Tapering 1 mg of clonazepam since Jan. Now at 0.055. Won't be long now.

Endeavour...I tried B's and they nearly knocked my socks off. You're lucky that you can take them.

I've added vitamins supplements back very slowly.  I currently am easily able to tolerate Vitamin C, Vitamin E, B6, B12, D3 and Calcium & Magnesium.  Calcium & Magnesium has really helped with sleep.  I added each, one at a time.....I'm still too afraid to take the multi-vitamins I was taking pre-benzo detox.

I tried and got very nauseous however, I am a very tiny person with a high metabolism and that might have played into my reaction. IMO I think it did.

My experience was that everytime I tried to encorporate more supplements, my sxs would go crazy, off the charts. I now take joint supplements and calcium/magnesium only. That's just me though, I think everyone is totally different, and only trying it will let you know.

Good luck to you!

MPLSGRL! Have missed seeing your posts. Kept looking for you on the insomniac music game :) Are you doing okay?

About the multivitamin...I wish I could take one. They just revv me up too much. I do take fish oil, vitamin e, ester c, bromelain/turmeric, probiotic, & digestive enzymes. Added COQ10 yesterday. Will see if I can tolerate it.

This is an interesting thread.  I stopped taking a multi, but would occasionally take magnesium, vitamin C, airborne, or a low-potency b-complex with seemingly no effect on sx's.  However, I have this horse-pill multi that I took the other night, and the next day had a real escalation of symptoms (mostly muscle issues).  Can't say for sure that the multi caused it, but won't be doing it again anytime soon.... :-[  Seems like low doses ok, but some of these multi's have very high potency.

Greetings teacher!

Missed everyone, but I've been having a pretty bad time. I can't seem to get hired, and it's made me get very paranoid and symptomatic bad. This weekend was awful, I had a return to suicidal ideation (stinkin' thinkin') for the first time since my w/d a little over a year ago. My parents took turns (long divorced) talking with me over the phone to help me hang on through the worst of it.

Have missed you!!!!!!!! Will be praying for you. So sorry for the upsurgence of benzo torture. Lots of people here are still having issues, even though they've been off for a year or longer. I read that 18 months is usually the magic number. Thank God for parents! My MOM is my Rock of Gibralter. Glad to see you here again!  :smitten: T2

Hi Erika...Hope you had a good night. I see that you take vitamin D sometimes. I saw in my logs that I tried it once and the next day was the first time that I had nausea, so I never took it again. I could be just a coincidence, but it's someting to have a look at.

Pentimento...I guess that's a good point. There are many types and brands of multivitamins. Some very potent and some very mild.
