Can I take anything for a cough?

I have a cold and a terrible cough. I have heard that the alcohol in cough syrup can cause problems. What about mucinex? I know it's a gamble but this cough is bad.

I used (and still use) the (generic) Musinex with cough suppressant and had no problem with it.  Then I took just the cough suppresant (dextro something) at bedtime or I wouldn't have been able to sleep for all the coughing.  Don't worry about it and just stay away from the cough syrups that have alcohol.

Try Apple Cider Vinegar.

They have tons of Natural Remedies that work the same or better than OTC things for all sorts of stuff.

I use ACV all the time for coughs and throat issues, as does my husband and he is a singer - very protective of voice and throat. I would try that first.
