[Ch...]
When I was hospitalized after a suicide attempt b/c of severe depression, I spent three months at an inpatient treatment center where we utilized a therapy called DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). It was originally developed for people with Borderline Personality Disorder (which I learned I also have, yay). But the DBT skills can be used in any high-stress situation. Wikipedia has a good summary of what DBT is about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dialectical_behavior_therapy A search on Amazon pulls up a couple of workbooks on DBT for Depression/Anxiety and general DBT. A DBT book for Anxiety is due out during the beginning of November.
[Be...]
Thanks for the info, inkerbelle. I know we have at least one member who's been getting DBT therapy for a while now. CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) also works well for anxiety, panic and OCD. It's good to know there are alternatives to the pills.
