Reinstated 2 weeks…how to come off

I posted 5 or so days ago.  Just need reassurance… I was off K for 4 weeks. I reinstated at .25 for 5 days, then up to .5 most days since. Total of 15 days. When I take it, head gets all fuzzy and brain feels tingly.  It helps anxiety, but wears off quickly between the 2 ..25mg doses.  My psychiatrist is a jerk and won’t give me a clear answer.  He just keeps pushing benzos!  Anyone have experience with this and wanting to come off this soon after reinstate? Is it best to do this within days, weeks, CT as to not have it on my system any longer? I’m so distraught! Thank you❤️

Do you feel stable, did your reinstatement accomplish what you hoped?  What dose would you begin your taper from, .5 or .25?

It took away the bad anxiety and fear, but I don’t like the fuzzy feeling and tingling brain, and feel like I’m already in tolerance to the .25 twice/day bc I get bad anxiety within 6 hours of last dose.  I just don’t know what to do. I’m trying to not take the .25 evening dose right now and my anxiety is through the roof. I just don’t want to make things worse and keep taking it… is that how it works?

From what I've read here, reinstatements aren't always successful, some members don't feel much relief and regret doing it.  What was your goal in doing this, what symptom did you hope to ease by going back on the drug, was it the anxiety and fear?

Yes. Anxiety and fear. I didn’t want to stay on. It was to get through vacation for my son.  Then, when I tried to stop after a few days, it was terrible.  I still want off…just don’t know what to do now.  The reason it got worse was bc I tried Lexapro and it increased anxiety. Thank you for helping me, btw❤️

Have you seen someone reinstate only a couple weeks on here and try to get off quickly? Do I have to slow taper, you think?

I guess you could try for a rapid taper but if it hurts too much then you should probably settle in for another slow taper.  It might be better to do this sooner rather than later.

Thanks, Pamster.  I’m going to try to at least get to .25 over the next week, then see what I have to do. I’m seeing an addiction specialist next week who doesn’t use psychotropic drugs to detox. I’m excited. I need to get away from my current. He pushes benzos. Stinks!

Have you considered crossing over to Valium?

Naf1983,

I was up last night feeling horrible and thinking about this. I’m going to talk to my doctor Monday about it.  Thank you

Hi For my family,

I do hope it works out for you. I read on BenzoBuddies and the Ashton Manual that switching to Diazepam from Clonazepam can be extremely difficult. I've never done so, so I can't tell you about it. I guess what I would advise you is to read the Ashton Manual as she gives schedules to convert. However, if you need more time to adjust that should be okay.

Mind you, that the power of the halflife of Diazepam (Valium) makes tapering more gentle, but it can take a while before you get adjust. Perhaps other BenzoBuddies who succesfully converted can help you out.

Best of luck,

Naf1983
