Long term benzos

Im just curious. When I read that some people haave been on benzos for 10, 20, 30 years, I wonder what effect they have over such a long time? Do they still work? Most people find that they reach tolerance much sooner so just wondered how come some keep taking them for so long ?

Hi, I was taking Diazepam for around 20 years. I thought it was helping me but that was far from the truth. Now I'm 'the other side' of it I can clearly see that the medication that was prescribed to ease my anxiety was infact now creating the anxiety.... along with many other issues it created. As everyone knows these medications are not supposed to be for long term use I have absolutely no idea why I was left on them!
