Trying Exposure therapy for bad anxiety advice needed?

I have had really bad anxiety throughout this. Not OCD, but some avoidance tactics beginning to become a habit. So trying to stop doing them, but almost getting like  chemical anxiety now, have just had Covid which apparently can give you mental symptoms too. Have read can make symptoms worse if you try this, anyone had experience of it, will it improve things or am I just making it worse. Have tried CBT in past unsuccessfully but after  3 years just feel waiting it out I will never recover.

I am sorry you are going through this. I absolutely believe you should do ERP. Chemical, non-chemical anxiety, ERP sets off anxiety in everyone. It is meant to, as cruel as it sounds. But it is what anxiety doesn't want and you need to learn the tools to deal with anxiety.
