Has anyone tried elemental formula for digestive issues?
« on: April 04, 2022, 11:28:28 pm »
My digestive trouble has gotten so bad that I'm thinking of trying a elemental formula liquid diet.  I've lost so much weight and it hurts so much to eat solid food.  I feel like my gut just needs a break.

I'm not talking about something like Ensure.  I'm talking about a very specialized, predigested medical formula that you need a prescription for.

Has anyone else tried this?  Did it help you?  What brand did you use?

I’ve heard of this too Sage and I’ve been thinking about the same thing.

The one here in Canada is so full of things I don’t think I could take, so not sure what to do either.

I’ve seen some people in England with a feeding tube put in, they’ve been suffering from Long COVID.

I have a friend here that is being put on TPN.

I would love to know if you find something that works.

Looks good!!

Hope it works. Let me know.

I’m suffering greatly from the brain squeezing hurting after I eat.
So I’d cranky just like to not have to eat.

Did you ever get that.

It seems to be common with histamine/MCAS issues.

My brain feels like it's burning.  There's a little pressure, but mostly burning everywhere, especially stomach.  And nerve pain.  It's just horrible today.

Oh I’m sorry my friend.
I’ve had the brain burning before.
Oddly, I’d take that over this brain squeezing business.

I’ve never felt more pain in my life. I can’t think, talk or even do anything.
Drs tell me it’s muscular tension, nope don’t buy it.
It happens when I eat and then also when I take my dose.
To me it feels like intracranial hypertension.
A lot of people who have that have POTS and MCAS and said that when their MCAS isn’t controlled they get symptoms.

Ketotifen takes away the brain burning, but I’m not sure how easy that is to get in the states.

Nalcrom should help the stomach. Not sure if you can get those or take them.

Ugh! I just want this all to go away!

I'm a bit afraid of the side effects of Ketotifen.  Nalcrom is cromolyn sodium, right?  I might be able to try that one.  Does it help you?  What has your experience been with them?  I'm discouraged because I know those are the treatments, but if you've already taken them and are still suffering, how well do they really work?  I think you can get cromolyn sodium for the nebulizer here.  I was thinking that might be the way to go for me since nebulized medicines get into the bloodstream, but not in as high of quantities.  I'm so very sensitive that I'm afraid the oral doses might just make me worse.
