Weighing And Crushing Versus Weighing and Shaving Klonopin

[...]

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Once again, I am trying to do a very slow taper. At 68, I don't plan to get off, but at least get down as far as I can. I did cut by .125mg back in November. I had a bit rough time, even though I am on a high dose.

I spent many years taking care of my Mom. It was very stressful, but I would do it again. She died from the Delta Variant at the end of July of 2021. It was so sudden and heartbreaking. I blame our Gov., but that is a moot point now.

At the time of her death, I was switching from Brand to generic and that was Hell. I had to up dose because of the switch.

Anyway, I tried 3 days of the liquid titration and that just does not work for me.

I watched videos of weighing and shaving which seems pretty simple, but my husband is concerned about the accuracy. I have weighed and crushed before. It is time consuming, but I want the best results.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

BTY, I accidentally made a 9% cut in a week with the liquid and then cutting .125mg with a splitter.

I did shave off .03mg of which today is my 6th day. It was pretty rough for about a week. I started the liquid on the 24th of March. Again, it is not for me, although years ago I used a simple water taper to get down. I was much younger. I can't handle much anymore, but want to remain functional for sure.

Thanks again,

Dana

This member has very clear videos of his weighing process.  He used filler along with crushed tablets and made his own capsules.  You might want to look at his videos to see what you can learn.  His method appears to be fairly precise:

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother.  This Covid thing has affected many of our BB members in one way or another.

Hello, Dana.  I am so sorry about your mom.

I don’t have personal experience with dry tapering clonazepam. However, I do keep an eye out for the different methods members are using/have used to taper this particular benzodiazepine.

Here are links to the blogs of three current members who are dry tapering clonazepam:

Kate,

Thank you for that information. I have watched his video and he even helped with the math last year.

I have the math figured out. It is just what is best for my poor brain.

I commend you for coming down the way that you did. I just can't seem to handle the cuts and I do percentage based taper.

Again, thank you for your reply and condolences for my Mom. Yes. It is and has affected so many people.

Libertas,

Great to hear from you. I kept trying the liquid taper and it doesn't agree with me. My stomach is so sensitive to any suspension agent.

I really thank you for this information that  you compiled. This will help me tremendously in making a decision that will be best for me.

Thank you for your condolences for my Mom. I am still heartbroken and miss her terribly. I figure now is the time that I can really focus on this. I just need to stabilize after messing up and will microtaper.

Much gratitude to you and Kate.

You are most welcome, Dana.  Rest assured you are not the only member who has had issues with liquid.  However, the good news is those members were able to taper successfully using one of the dry methods.  I’m delighted to see you back with us and determined to use this time to focus on achieving your goal of decreasing your clonazepam dose.  You are an incredibly strong individual so I have every confidence you will succeed in doing so!

When you have a minute, it would be helpful if you would update your signature with your current dose and dosing schedule. Also, are you taking any other medications that might interact with clonazepam and/or impact your taper?  (As a retired RN I’m sure you’ve already checked but drug interactions are on my mind of late after discovering one of our senior members was taking a drug that interacted not only with her benzodiazepine but also another medication she was taking.)

Libertas,

I will update my signature soon. It might be very long, but I will try to be concise.

No. I do not take any other drugs at all. The only thing that I do is compounded bio identical sublingual bi est and testosterone for HRT. I have been doing those for many years.

I am very aware of drug interactions. If it were not for this Klonopin, I would be drug free.

Thanks for the uplifting comment. It means a lot.

Dana

Thank you. I am so sorry that you lost your Mom, also. We have to keep the Faith.

Hopefully you will do a low and slow taper.

Hi, Libertas.

Thank you for compiling. I am dry cutting brand K which is challenging. It crumbles easily. I cut a .5mg pill and weigh it. I have not tried crushing method as I have no reserves to experiment with.
