I learned how to meditate using the "Calm" app and part of meditation is breathing. I tried breathing exercises during the worst of my WD and they didn't help. After I was healed a bunch they seemed to help out more, if and when I tried them.

Ive done the 4-7-8 breathing method everyone night now for 3+ years. It did not do much when my insomnia was at its worse but it does help quite a bit now. it really helps when you wake up multiple times and cant get back to sleep. Most nights I will sleep an hour or so and when i wake up I do my breathing then i fall back to sleep.
Good luck!
