Polyethylene Glycol as solvent for Ativan ?

Hi

I'm looking for a solvent to make a liquid solution of Ativan. Ethanol seems to work, but I would prefer something non - alcoholic.

I found this article :

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/234954262_The_Improvement_of_Lorazepam_Solubility_by_Cosolvency_Micellization_and_Complexation

It talks about Polyethylene glycol 200 or 400.

I have at home Polyethylene glycol powder 3350USP (laxative) 17 Gram/Dose.

I'm wondering if i can use it to dissolve Ativan.

Any suggestion ? I don't really know if i can find a way to make Polyethylene glycol 3350 USP to the 200 version.

Thanks for your help

Marcus

I don't know if you're interested but there is a liquid version of Ativan (Lorazepam) available through the manufacturer, I don't know what country you're in but it's available in the US, you'd just need to ask your doctor for a prescription.  https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov

I don't have any experience with making a homebrew but I've seen some members use Propylene glycol, hopefully others will drop by with information about Polyethylene glycol powder.

To my knowledge, we do not have any members who have used MiraLAX (PEG 3350) to make a homebrew liquid with regular lorazepam tablets as the drug source.

The professionally formulated and manufactured 2mg/mL Intensol lorazepam solution available in the US uses propylene glycol and PEG (the drug label does not specify the molecular weight).

Pharmacists in the Netherlands developed a 1mg/mL oral lorazepam solution that includes glycerol, PEG 400, propylene glycol, and a flavoring (see reference below).

We also have members who are using a professionally formulated and compounded 1mg/mL oral lorazepam solution that includes propylene glycol, 90-proof ethyl alcohol, water, sorbitol solution, and a flavoring.

n.b. All of the above formulations use pure lorazepam powder (aka the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient or API) as the drug source, not regular tablets.

I used to mix my etizolam powder (like xanax) with propylene glycol.  You can order it from Amazon and maybe buy it at Walmart.  Make sure it's food grade!  Do not use anything but food grade.  Whether it will mix with what you have, I do not know.
