[Bi...]
Hello everyone I have been taking Tranxene for 15 years and am starting my second attempt to get off of it. I was on 7.5 mg 2x a day for 10 years but after a failed taper attempt (where that doctor told me I was on a dose I could just quit cold turkey and chaos ensued) I stabilized at 3.75mg 2x a day. I have been there 5 years. I now have another doctor who has told me I am on a baby dose and should be able to get off quickly. I dropped the dose by half in 2 weeks and the body/mind is not happy and responding horribly. If anyone has an idea on a doable taper schedule it would be so much appreciated. Thank you in advance for the support.
[Pa...]
Hello Big Guy, welcome to BenzoBuddies, Oh my, I wish some doctors understood there is no baby dose when it comes to benzo's, these drugs have the power to alter how your brain functions, big doses, small doses, it doesn't matter, they all need to be treated with care. We typically suggest reducing your dose by about 5-10% every week or two but this should be determined by your symptoms in order to remain functional in our lives. How are you doing, are you able to perform your daily tasks, do you feel stable or do you think you may need to go back up in dose a bit then do a slower taper? I'll provide some links to get you started but be sure to ask questions, we'll help you get through this. [Li...]
Welcome, Big Guy. If you have not already done so, might I encourage you learn more about Tranxene (clorazepate dipotassium) by reading its FDA-approved Drug Label? See links below on how to find the label for the manufacturer of your particular tablets as well as locate key withdrawal-related information in the label. For example, it’s important to know that clorazepate dipotassium is very soluble in water but unstable in solution. See link below for a discussion with another member on this topic.
