Congratulations on being alcohol and benzo free, how long has it been since you quit them both?  Can you share with us how much Valium you were taking and for how long, it will help us understand your situation a little better.

I quit cold turkey too and it was painful so I may know how you're feeling.

I quit alcohol 2 years ago but the doctor tried me on lots of anti depressants and benzos...I was taking them for 2 week periods stopping and restarting again.

I am now determined to give my brain balance and get it back to equilibrium

Very common symptoms of benzo withdrawal and may I say how incredibly irresponsible it was for your doctor to prescribe benzo's to a recovering alcoholic?  I quit alcohol in 1991 and when I took my first benzo in 2005, it felt like that first drink, they don't call alcohol liquid benzo's for nothing!

I find that I function so much better without mood altering substances and I'm happy to know you're interested in giving your brain balance, you're on the right track.
