Can a water titration taper be done with Temazepam capsules?

Here's what I wrote another user who wanted to taper temazepam recently:

You are on a relatively short acting benzo; I'm wondering if you might want to consider a crossover to a longer acting medication. Since you are on temazepam, which is a metabolite of diazepam, I suggest consulting the Ashton manual and doing a slow, step-wise transition to diazepam.

 

Here is a schedule that Dr. Ashton made to taper off of 30mg of temazepam using a crossover:

It looks fairly simple from here; 15mg diazepam is equivalent to 30mg temazepam (once the diazepam has been taken for a week or so). Diazepam in the US comes in tablets as small as 2mg, and these can be easily cut or shaved; plus diazepam has the wonderous metabolite desmethyldiazepam which can have an half-life up to 200 hours! For many users this creates a very smooth tapering experience.

 

Would you consider a crossover to diazepam?

Would your prescribing doctor support this approach?

You could direct taper your temazepam, if you really want to. I'd be willing to discuss water titration with you if that's your cup of tea.
