August 17 is fast approaching!

Are you interested in learning more about managing benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms? Do you have questions about managing your withdrawal symptoms?

If so, the next DocTalk from the Alliance for Benzodiazepine Best Practice may be of interest. The presenter, Arwen Podesta, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist with sub-specializations in holistic and integrative medicine, addiction medicine, and forensic psychiatry. She also has a background in biochemistry. Her boutique private practice (Podesta Wellness) offers nutritional counseling, massage therapy, psychotherapy, and acupuncture.

If you would like to ask Dr. Podesta a question, please register for the next DocTalk via the link in the first post to this thread.  (If you don’t have a question but wish to view Dr. Podesta’s opening presentation, it will be posted to the Alliance website after the live event.)

If you cannot participate in the DocTalk, but have a question you would like to ask Dr. Podesta, please reply to this post with your question. We will provide the Alliance with a summary of member questions prior to the event.

Questions for the next Doc talk:

Please discuss the management of benzo belly symptoms and gut healing during benzo withdrawal.

For those of us with severe neuropathic pain during WD, what options do we have for managing this symptom? What sort of doctor might be best to work with on this issue since it's not typically the purview of psychiatry, but neither were pain doctors prescribing the benzo?

Last Call!  Aug. 17 DocTalk

The Alliance needs our help to continue offering DocTalks.

We’ve learned that many people who signed up for the first two DocTalks did not show up.  Consequently, the Alliance did not meet its attendance goals.

If you signed up for the next DocTalk on August 17 but won’t be be able to attend, please let the Alliance know by sending an email to hunter@benzoreform.org.  Your seat will be released to someone else.

If you haven’t signed up but want to participate, please do so.  See the first two posts in this thread for details.

Thank you to members who have posted or PM’d questions for the next DocTalk on August 17.  See list below.

If you have a question about managing benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms you’d like to contribute, please do so before 5pm PST (US), August 16.

(1) The “early morning alarm bell” is a frequently reported withdrawal symptom. Individuals wake between 3-5 am in a panic.  What are possible causes?  What are possible treatments?

(2) Is there something we can do for brain fog?

(3) For those of us with severe neuropathic pain during WD, what options do we have for managing this symptom? What sort of doctor might be best to work with on this issue since it's not typically the purview of psychiatry, but neither were pain doctors prescribing the benzo?

(4) Please discuss the management of benzo belly symptoms and gut healing during benzo withdrawal.

(5) Is there something we can do for issues with balance and visual issues like depth perception?
