[hk...]
I currently take 1mg clonazepam daily. 0.5mg in the morning and 0.5mg before bed. I am planning on crossing over to Diazepam before I start my taper. Does this crossover schedule make sense: AM PM Step 1: 0.250 clonazepam 0.5 Clonazepam (1 week) 5mg Diazepam Step 2: Stop clonazepam 0.5 Clonazepam (1 week) 10mg Diazepam Step 3: 10mg Diazepam 0.250 Clonazepam (1 week) 5mg Diazepam Step 4: 10mg Diazepam Stop Clonazepam (1 week) 10mg Diazepam Step5: 10mg Diazepam 10mg Diazepam (1 week) Then proceed to start my taper by reducing 1mg in AM for 2 weeks Then 1mg in the PM for 2 weeks Then back to 1mg in the AM for 2 weeks Then back to 1mg in the PM for 2 weeks and so on........... Any experience/help with the crossover would be greatly appreciated Thanks (Keep your stick on the ice)
[Pa...]
I like your proposed schedule but it feels a little aggressive, Professor Ashton had her patients crossing over a bit slower but as long as you're listening to your body then you should be okay. This is an example of a cross from 1.5 mg. https://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/bzsched.htm#s5 Have you ever tried Valium before, do you know what to expect? [Pa...]
I'm sorry you're experiencing such terrible symptoms, I actually had to reread that paragraph to remember what you were referencing and this is a good thing because memories fade and life goes on, yours will too. I don't have experience with Valium but I've read members say it can be a bit depressive until you get used to it, it also has sedation qualities so you may feel more drugged but as I said, I'm told you'll become accustomed to it. Those who successfully make the cross swear by it because its so much smoother to taper from but there are those who can't do it and go back to their original benzo. Many members taper directly from Clonazepam because it has a fairly long half life so if you decide not to cross to Valium you can still get this done. I'm pleased you're doing your homework, its important to be fully informed with a plan because this process requires a great deal of commitment. You might ask the folks on the Valium Support Group, they can provide first hand experience.
