Could someone help me work out a crossover plan?

Could someone please help me work out a crossover plan from 4.8mg zolpidem/ambien to Valium? A doctor here has told me just to stop one and go straight to the other in one night, but surely that can’t be right?...

I know I’ve asked advice about this on here and generally people think I should just directly taper the zolpidem. But I’m in a state of permanent withdrawal, constant terror, not sleeping. Because I suffer from other health issues this is just making me more and more sick. I’m really hoping that if I cross over I can find a little stability before I taper?
