[Ha...]
I don't really know what it actually means in practical terms. But apparently chronic caffeine intake increases the density of receptors. Does it mean caffeine drinkers have more receptors that are damaged? Or drinking caffeine actually upregulates receptors? Or both?? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3437321/
Guest [ba...]
To be fair - those rats were fed a LOT of caffeine. But yeah - it's interesting that if we take something to calm us (benzos), our bodies compensate by making fewer receptors. If we take something to stimulate us (caffeine), our bodies compensate by making more. I used that paper to justify my continued use of caffeine (usually just one coffee) during my withdrawal. I can't tell you if that made any difference in my healing rate (probably not).
