Spring Allergies!!!!

Now that spring has sprung here the last few weeks, my regular allergies are through the roof!

I seem to be in more pain because of them now!

I hate taking antihistamines, but already had to start on Rantidine (H2 Blocker) and need to start Blexten (H1 Blocker) soon!

Not looking forward to what that will do for my poor sluggish colon!

Anyone else struggling with having more intense issues from regular allergies now?

Just having the window open is hell for me, going for my walk is extremely difficult now!

I feel like I have to isolate myself inside even more, and just wait, once summer hits, I won't be able to take the heat, I don't sweat properly anymore!

What else can we do to cope with this?

sniff, sniff

Since I started to take pure vitamin C as ascorbic acid in a high dosage (3-5 gram daily, not milligram) I do not need antihistaminic meds any more and my allergies are really not bad at all anymore. I think this in addition to my overall healing (gut, immune system and so on) has helped, but as soon as I notice that outside or inside the house something I would react on arrives I would take more Vitamin C and it just passes by instead of causing me the typical symptoms.

Thanks Marigold

yes Vitamin C is great for allergies!

Ever since I took antibiotics last year, I can't tolerate Vit C as ascorbic acid, it gives me a headache and a reaction.

I have Vitamin C as calcium ascorbate, I need to try that.

I so wish the regular worked for me.

Thank you for your response - so happy it works for you!

I also have a high quality air purifier. Bought it last year. I do not know why I did not buy that before. Okey, I know. 300 Euro.

But this one filters out even ozone when its hot and the air is fresh like in the mountains in the bed room. This spring is the first time I will use it in allergy season, I can't wait to find out if it makes a huge difference. It definitely was a huge helper when we had a mold problem and for dust. Maybe something like that could be an option for you...

I swear by those!! During my first year of withdrawal my allergies were horrible for months. Plus my mucus became thick from the WD. Walked into someone’s house that had one and I could breathe for the first time in months. I want to buy one so bad. They really do work.

Yes I have an amazing HEPA filter that I got many years ago!

We really need to get another good one for the main living area!

We got a cheap one from Costco, that really smelled so much like plastic, my husband just took it back today!

I'll have to do some research, thanks for reminding me on the filter.

The specialist wants me to take Blexten and Rantidine for MCAS - I just hate taking pills, but I definitely need the Rantidine for now and will have to try Blexten for a while, at least in allergy season!

Just wish they had proper MCAS testing in Canada, they only test tryptase here nothing else. My specialist worked with Dr. Afrin in the States and said that even he had difficulty obtaining accurate results sometimes. The samples are just so fragile and most labs just can't do the tests accurately. Even with the specific labs he uses, you can still get negative results and still have MCAS she said! So the answer truly lies in how you respond to treatment.

I so wish I could use more natural treatments, but I can't handle any salicylates at all.

One thing she did tell me that the benzos and wd were definitely causing my sympathetic nervous system to be in overdrive, which was driving a lot of my POTS like symptoms.

Thanks for your help!

They did, but it came back - but only the prescription version, the OTC version was pulled again.

I'm not thrilled about taking it, but the acid reflux is terrible and nothing else was dealing with it.

yes I have histamine issues from antibiotics I took last spring - actually the one created so much anxiety in my body, it was insane - that's what led me to use Ativan to begin with.

My one specialist is treating me for suspected MCAS, with the Blexten and Rantidine
