Small cuts

I started tapering Ativan last week.  Made 4 micro cuts totaling .022mg.  Experienced huge wave of anxiety this morning at 4am.  I haven’t been getting much sleep the last couple of months - but to wake up and feel your whole body tingling from head to toe was excruciating and my stomach was really painful too.  How can such small cuts be causing this much discomfort?  I’m so scared it’s going to be this way the whole time.  My doctor is letting it up to me to attempt to cross over to Valium but I’m scared cause I’m suffering from depression too (I’ve been crying a lot the last couple of weeks) - I don’t want the Valium to make the depression worse.  I wanted to taper the Ativan some, get it down enough so if I do crossover, the Valium dose is lower.  But I didn’t think such small cuts would send me into so much agony.  Am I doing something wrong?  I’m holding for a few days - what do I cut next - like .001mg the next cut?
