Switch from 1mg of xanax to 10mg of Valium to taper

I took my first Valium of 4mg last night and am taking 2mg of Valium at 8am, noon and 4pm and 4mg an hour before bedtime.  I’m a bit jumpy and anxious today.  Is that normal?  When does that stop?

According to the equivalency chart we use you're under medicated, 1 mg is equal to 20 mgs Valium. https://www.benzo.org.uk/bzequiv.htm

Also, most members will cross over slowly, slowly adding the Valium while withdrawing the Xanax because Valium builds up slower than Xanax, it isn't as quick acting.  Here is a sample crossover schedule from the Ashton manual, its for a higher dose than yours but it should give you an idea of how it's done.  https://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/bzsched.htm#s7

Gosh, no wonder I feel jittery in the morning.  My doctor is an expert in addiction, so I would have thought he would know the equivalency.  I’m not sure what to do about it.

There are many charts on equivalencies and they vary widely, your Dr may be using another one but part of your problem may also be withdrawing the Ativan too quickly, this leaves you without adequate coverage until the Valium builds up.

Do you have a good relationship with him, could you let him know how you're feeling and what you've found out to get him to work with you on this?  I hate for you to cite BenzoBuddies on this because Dr's aren't too keen about internet advice but you're clearly suffering.

I’ve been on 10mg of Valium for a week now and feel fine.  I take 2mg at 8am, noon and 4:30pm and 4mg at 8:45pm.  How do I taper best from here? Can you point me in the right direction?
