Question about withdrawal symptoms from xanax

Hello, I have been persevering with my taper and functioning on and off.  I have increased the taper days to ten from seven.  Sometimes when I taper I feel severe depression, or nausea and being very unwell , burning head inside, etc. , the severity let’s up by day 5.  I continue to be stressed and anxious about my continued symptoms and the taper itself: cutting the pills.  Also that i probably have interdose withdrawal.  The symptoms I have regularly are numb arms, face off and on, crying a lot, neck pain, headaches, sometimes severe.  I have so much pressure to taper as I have said and little support except great friends.  Because I have nit ever felt well on Xanax from day one and had problems immediately by day ten I feel as if I have to keep tapering..,afraid of being on Xanax.  Also still trying to get different doctor and opinion.  Cognitively much better on lower dose but suffering.  I am just holding on between the doctors and advice here.  Having read about some terrible outcomes I am wondering about pushing forward with burning hands, arms , head and neck issues that come and go for months now befire started tapering.  Obviously I am so scared and not as brave as most the group here,  thanks Elise

Elise, you are as brave as everyone on here.  We were all scared to death and most of us didn't know it was the benzo causing our problems.  Then somehow we figure that out and start withdrawing way too fast and end up in more trouble.  Rushing off the X, when you already feel really bad, isn't always a good idea.  Being stable and having your symptoms tolerable is much more important.  Holding can give your brain and central nervous system an opportunity to stabilize.  What a lot of people forget, is getting off the benzo, is not the only issue.  How you are afterwards is very important too or you can end up feeling awful for months, even though you are no longer taking the benzo.  IMO, at least slow way down and see if your tapering and symptoms can't catch up with one another.  X is a short life benzo and having interdose withdrawal is pretty common.  All the symptoms you mentioned are common symptoms of benzo's, but if any really scare you, see your Dr.  It's probably benzo, but peace of mind means a great deal.  Wish you lots of luck.  We will be here to support you no matter what you choose.  Mary!  🙋🏼🙋🏼. 😷😷

I'll be honest with you, I'm not brave either. That's probably why it took me 14 years to start tapering off this stuff. I have horrific symptoms as well after a cut which is why I have to wait at least a month between cuts. It's taking me longer but I just can't handle any more than that. I think we all have to figure out what we can handle and also have patience. I had hoped to be done in six months and now it's nine with a few months to go and that's if I can keep going the way I have. It takes tenacity to do this! You are doing great!  :)

Thanks for the replies.  I tapered last night .03 mg again , trying

to keep my doctors happy ...today headaches and not great and scared. I don’t know what to do.  Dont want to go back up ...And now I  have the weekend to get through.  I haven’t felt great since on this drug.  So hard to slow down with the afternoon withdrawals Probably there anyway.  My doctors keep saying I am not in withdrawal.  Not sure how to get stable now.  Pushed too far? If I go to a addiction specialist I wonder what the options are?  I am afraid my doctor will say it’s not withdrawal it’s my anxiety and I will be mistreated.  Have I blown this taper?  I have an appointment on Tuesday and Wednesday... I don’t think they can help me.  I probably have been tapering too fast for months and my doctors want me going faster.  Since I started this drug April 29 everything bad that could happen has.  Major suffering, thanks Elise
