Hello Oliva,

Welcome to Benzo Buddies! No worries, your message is coming through loud and clear. I'm glad you've joined the forum, you'll find a wealth of good information about the withdrawal process here. While it can be challenging for some people, finding a sensible slow taper will be the best way to minimize withdrawal symptoms.

You've been on this drug for a long time and it appears that you've reached tolerance to the dose since you are feeling more anxious lately.  Good for you for not wishing to increase the dose, that is a very slippery slope to be on and I applaud your decision to taper off.

2mg. is a significant dose. It may not seem like a lot, but clonazepam is a very strong benzo.  Tapering slowly will allow your body to adjust to the dose changes. Generally, a reduction of no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days is suggested. I'll give you a link to the Planning Your Withdrawal Board for more information.

I'll also provide a link to the Ashton Manual. It is an excellent resource about benzos, tapering and withdrawal.  The manual was written by Dr. Heather Ashton, an expert in the field.

Do some reading and ask questions. Learning a lot about this process will help you pick the plan that works best for you.  This is doable and we're here to support you. Let us know how we can help.

Hi Olivia,

Welcome to BB.

Congratulations on your decision to get benzo free.  It’s a journey, but a wise choice.

Taper slowly.  Taper carefully.  Have a plan.  Follow symptoms.  Expect you may not feel well at times.  This can be minimized by small reductions and waiting long enough between reductions.

Others have succeeded.  So will you.
