[pi...]
Hi all Recently found tahini as healthy fat to put into sauces for salads in diet. For some reason when i eat it, im getting weird flare ups or chest discomfort and nerve twinges. Anyone else notice tahini causing flare ups. Same thing happening when i put it in hummus. Trying to get rid of all oils from diet. This is actually really yummy and i like it. I really want to make it work. But the heart health anxiety its causing is making me miserable after dinners. Any one have any experience with it? Thanks, Pinky
[KD...]
Tahini is made from sesame seed, a known allergen. It is high in salicylates. It makes me itchy. Maybe it is kind of an allergic reaction in your case?
[Ma...]
Tahini can be made of roasted sesame seeds, pure unroasted seeds, peeled or unpeeled seeds. There are tons of different products, which can also contain gluten, sugar, oils and other stuff. I use a pure and organic tahini made of white sesame seeds, which were peeled and roasted before and I do not have any reaction besides a yummy taste, - but there are other brands I cannot tolerate.
