How long severe diarrhea to last?

Hi, may be TMI but I was taking a low dose (.25 or .5mg) of Xanax once every other day or 3 days for most of 9 months. My last dose was about 2 weeks ago. I started getting horrible stomach pain 5 days ago. 3 days ago I had horrible diarrhea . Yesterday was better but then I woke up at 3 this morning and had it bad again for 4 hours straight. How long did this last for you? I can't eat much so I'm tired no energy, can't work because of it. Thanks

Are you eating?  Drinking plenty of water.  It helps and you need to eat what you can.

I had this about a week, maybe a bit more. Its a common withdrawal symptom, because we have a lot of gaba receptors through the GI tract. More than in most places.

This will subside. Yes, make sure you drink enough fluids. Try to eat despite it. You might try extra fiber. For some this helps and for some, it makes it worse.
