Severe insomnia and exercise

My insomnia is utterly utterly unbelievable.  I have to take a stack of stuff to get some light sleep every other night.  I am utterly drained, weak and exhausted.  Does doing some light exercise help to improve sleep?

 

Close to reinstating here and loosing the plot big style.

 

I am utterly exhausted all day but my brain will NOT switch off.

I feel the same way. I can’t tell if light exercise has any effect on my sleep, but I know heavy exercise definitely revs me up and destroys my sleep. I love exercise and I find it most useful to burn off that sickly energy I sometimes feel during the day. I have a really hard time not pushing it. I’d say you can’t go wrong with some light walking. Hope you feel better. My sleep is horrible at month 23. Really tired of this.

Light exercise should help you, but if you do it too close to bedtime (within a few hours of going to bed), it could backfire and get you more revved up.  Morning or early afternoon are the best times to exercise and have it help your sleep.  I hope that helps.  The insomnia is killer!
