Depakote

My daughter is 13 months CT from 1mg of Ativan. hospitalized this week with severe mania. Doctor prescribed Depakote. Any thoughts?

yeah depakote is not a good medicine. I took it for 10 years and had many side effects. There are lawsuits out now where depakote is causing birth defects in children whose mothers took depakote or the fathers did...I cant remember.

 

Depakote is a epilepsy drug. I am now tapering from a epilepsy drug and its been hell. So I dont know that I would trade one drug for another. 

 

I mean I dont know what to tell you if your daughter has severe mania. I would imagine that if she is going thru withdrawal she would be going thru mania. I would also say that sticking her on another pill would just delay her healing.

Depakote actually messed up everything I had worked for to get off benzos.

I was on Lamictal, ambien, Ativan doing well and not taking benzos nightly.

I took it for 3 days. That morning I woke up shivering, crying and didn’t know where I was. Mind you I was in my own bed.
