Treatment Centers

Dear Buddies,

  I have been part of BB for 7 years. I've completed my taper and am now 4 years off. I have some more healing left but am overall much better. I am deeply grateful to be free and to have the collective support of this community.

  I am writing in support of a friend who finds herself dependent on Klonipin. Her family is fearful and insisting she find a treatment center. When I began my own journey I knew of no centers that allowed for a patient led taper and followed Dr. Ashtons protocols. Is this still the case? My friend has the resources to go anywhere for treatment. Does a reputable and safe clinic exist?

I assume a somewhat average taper of a year is at least 100K if they would even allow it?

Carita, if money isn't an issue, this centre, in Vermont, supposedly comes highly recommended: http://innerfire.us/ 

I saw it described elsewhere as 'a holistic residential healing center for psychiatric medication withdrawal'. I can't vouch for them personally (I'm not in the US), but it's perhaps worth looking into.

In my opinion, most, if not all "rehab" facilities will try to get you off Benzos in 1-2 months. There are only a select few who can be successful weaning off benzos in this time frame. Also, most if not all of these rehab centers are private and are willing to take your money, but their treatment methods for weaning off Benzos is often not in the patients best interest and a high number of these patients relapse after leaving.

Just Google "tapering Benzos" and the first 5 or 10 results are from drug rehab centers. For example, "the recovery village" was the first result I got, I then took the name of the place into a separate google search and added "reviews" after it. (TheRecoveryVillage Reviews) Click on one of the user reviews links and scroll down to the comments.

Just my opinion though. I have been inpatient in the hospital many times where I live and have talked to people who have either gone to a drug rehab center or knew someone who did and almost all of them said they were worse than being inpatient in the hospital. Some akined it to being in jail.
