Redevan, te has currado tú solo todas las tradiciones? Increíble. Eres hiperactivo chico.

Redevan you did those translations alone? Incredible. You're hyperactive. Miguel it's great to see you here. We expected an avalanche of people but it's still quite lonely.

No hice las traducciones solo. Google me ayudó.

Yes please do the tutorial. Here at the beach with no computer I'll keep it short, because writing and translating on my phone with the autocorrect not helping, is too much for my benzo brain.

Hi,

Just a quite note to explain more about why require content (or a provided translation) to be in English. To effectively moderate the forum, the moderation team need to understand what has been written. Otherwise, what is the point of having a moderation team? There is no forum out there without some kind monitoring of content going on. There was one benzo withdrawal support forum from some years ago that tried a (more or less) completely hands-off approach: it spiraled down into absolute chaos and even hate campaigns, stalking, etc. Of course - completely predictably - it ended up closing.

We also need to monitor for threats of harm (particularly self-harm). We cannot do a lot, but at least we can acknowledge their pain and direct them to some resources.

Of course, non-English speakers require help too. We try our best to accommodate by allowing for (inexact) translations. It is difficult, not very effective, and rarely used here. But I do not know what else we can do. We could take on team members who speak other languages, but what happens when they leave? And, how would the Admin asses the behaviour of the moderator (yes, it is only sensible that we are capable of doing this, even if it is rarely an issue).

Well, that's the rationale for why we insist on English. I'd prefer if we did not have to restrict content in this way, but there is no practical way around it.

Thanks for the explanation Colin. So then, we can continue with this Spanish thread as long as we translate each post? I'd participate more when I get back to my laptop after the holiday.

Hi Evan....no offence pls....you wrote.. :)

''  I thought it would be fun to make a small place where we buddies who are trying to learn Spanish can practice our skills with each other. We could talk about anything: about the benzos, of course, and their withdrawal and recovery  but also about music and movies and trips to various countries, etc. ''

I agree with the fun bit....but give advise on Benzo wd is a bad idea IMO.... For the

sake of only Spanish speakers getting competent advise. They should use the

English translation just like our Japanese, Arab, Russian and other buddies did and do.

I suppose in that field the rules would be exactly the same as in English. If people can talk about benzo withdrawal and recovery in English, which is all we do here, why can't they do so in Spanish, provided we offer a translation if it is still required by mods?

The language and translation is one thing, but why do you think the rest of the rules would also have to be different.

Hey, Morreweg! Wie geht's?

It's funny you should say that because just last night I wrote a long reply to Colin discussing this whole situation, and one of my proposals was that the forum could restrict the discussion of benzo-related issues to the English-language threads, leaving only non-benzo issues for this Spanish-language thread. I would have no problem with that. After all, this thread is in the Accentuate the Positive section, where you find distractions and diversions, fun and games, and not discussions of serious benzo issues.

I took that reply down. The tone wasn't exactly right. I'm going to work on it today and maybe repost it.

It would be nice if we could have a full-blown Spanish section where everything could be discussed, but I understand the forum's problems with that, so I guess we have to make some compromises. And that was one compromise I suggested - or will suggest, as the case may be.

Vale Redevan.

Ok Redevan. I am new to BBs and I don't know that dynamic. I see many threads die shortly after opening, and that sometimes depresses a little. For example, the thread of full-time workers: I was very excited about that thread because I see that here most people left work because of the withdrawal syndrome, or they are retired. I have to work, I have no other choice . Seeing that thread die doesn't help me much. I will do my best to keep this thread open. I hope that those who are learning my wonderful language are also encouraged to find a place to try to practice, and do not shy away because you don't speak well. The important thing is to try.

a tiempo completo? Yo trabajo a tiempo completo. He trabajado a tiempo completo

As for full-time workers, it comforts me to see more people writing that they continue to work even in acute syndrome. At that time two months ago I could hardly, but still. He came here and saw almost everyone who left his job and that made me think that he would not be able to. Maybe not because you can see that your mind is less influential. But there are also people like me. I'm still here on the beach, in the city of Torrevieja, which by the way is near Valencia, where horchata was invented. It is on the same coast. We go to a rocky beach every day. The sea is fantastic. I thought I wouldn't take the trip and I came just because my daughter had a vacation. However I am enjoying despite my hours of fear or depression. I would swear that the sea is able to recover the brain to some extent. It seems absurd but sometimes I'm fatal, I make the effort to get into the sea and after a while I'm fine. It's very strange. I also raised the dose a month ago but that did not give me immediate effect, much less. I don't know if one day I will be able to stabilize myself but at least I am stealing from this drug some wonderful moments with my daughter. I ate paella today, bad idea. I did not fall into all the dye it carries. I hope I haven't loaded my recovery anymore, I don't know very well how that works. I have opened another thread for this food. Today when we go for a walk I will ask for horchata, which I have not taken for centuries. I had forgotten that it exists.

good morning,

i only know a little spanish. but, i live in california and have worked in kitchens with chicanos. i almost had a sister who is half Mexican. Our parents dated, but we didn’t speak Spanish together because only her mother knows it. I grew up with spanish speaking kids. in kindergarten my best friend was Daisy who was Mexican, but we dindn’t talk much. we just liked the way each other dressed and was. she wore frilly dressed and a lot of pink. I was sporty.

I love so much about latin culture. I can make good salsa fresca and some good burritos and tacos. i like peppers and baja style mexican food.

I have wanted to lean Spanish and French for a long time. i only took Spanish in high school, and i only wanted to try in high school until sometime early in my junior year. I didn’t get along especially well with the spanish teachers, more like we ignored each other. They didn’t hate me though.

Yes, i only know a little but i know how to pronounce most things fairly well.

I remember one thing Mr. Ladewig (a big sweedish white American who spoke Spanish well) said though; he said you have to be willing to try and to fail... to make an ass of yourself. you have to speak it out loud. He was fine, his personality was just too intense for me.

My neighbors are mexican; and i always get along well with mexicans in general. probably because the family i come from is big on manners, hard work, respect and values nature/the earth.

Thann you for welcoming me; I am sure you will have no trouble with the popularity of this thread. it just needs balls and grace... and persistence/perseverance/tenacity.

I like seeing the translation the way valiumnomore does it... right there in front of my eyes without clicking. It is easier for me to study without turning a page/clicking and jumping.

I’m willing to make an ass of myself to understand better... but i doubt that is what spanish speakers would have me do. They have always been kind and helpful to me, and fair. I understand why the neighbors we have have needed to warm up over time. I understand a lot about the culture from being around it a lot of my life. I can fake it, but i’d like a more genuine understanding.

Wherever I travel in California; Chicana women are very kind and helpful to me. Almost every single one. And if they aren’t, they end up seeing I am respectful and loving and they leave me alone and don’t mind my presence.

I have found safety in tough situations, and almost like a family feeling from Spanish speakers where i live across the state of California and even in New Mexico. I don’t remeber Arizona and Texas as well. it was a long time ago and I was just passing through.

i lived in Knoxville TN, briefly, a long time ago and felt sad and homesick when i realized there were almost no avocadoes or good Mexican food. the California Mexican food has been a huge part of my life as a Californian, and as I have said I have worked with Chicanos in the kitchen. this doesn’t make me any expert, but it isn’t so strange and it’s true.

I have thought of working in the field of therapy, and working with Spanish Speaking clients only. I know it may seems strange, but you’d have to really know me.

...

He querido aprender español y francés durante mucho tiempo.

No recuerdo tampoco a Arizona y Texas.

Mon pilote, your Spanish is very good, I don't know where you get that you only speak a little. I really appreciate how you join us so we can talk in both languages. You have a lot to contribute and if you are perfecting your Spanish by the way, then we all win. I get along with Mexicans as with all nationalities, that is, with some good and with others bad haha. Your childhood seems to have been very interesting and unusual

Vinculamos a ellas.

800px-Paseo_juan_aparicio_torrevieja.jpg

El código para esa se ve así:

[nobbc]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/53/Paseo_juan_aparicio_torrevieja.jpg/800px-Paseo_juan_aparicio_torrevieja.jpg[/img][/nobbc]
