Newbie tapering.

[Do...]

Recommended Posts

I have been taking Klonopin since 2002. I was taking 2mg three times daily. Dropped to 4 mg two times a day. I stayed at that dose for years. In January I started to taper .5 every 30 days. I am now down to 1.5 mg a day after tapering since January. It is now getting rough.  I dropped to the 2 mg mark but really hit me the other day when I dropped to 1.5 mg a day. I am discombobulated, not hungry, and feel as if I am in space. I now need a support group to help continue the taper no one seems to understand around me.

Welcome to Benzo Buddies. We are a support and information group for those wanting to get off of benzodiazepines. Congrats on how much you have accomplished tapering, that is awesome!

This link explains the mechanism of benzo's, and is a great place to start self educating.

The max recommended cut is 5-10% every 2 weeks. Many of us have to go slower, depending on our medication and what we can handle. Also, as you get lower in dose, many people need to slow down their pace (holding longer) and reduce the amount cut. Here are the boards on tapering. Regardless, you will get through this.
