Hey Buddies,

My doc prescribed me this to help with my withdrawal symptoms. Does anyone take this and like it or should I stay away from it?

My pdaoc did the same. He rx me 300mg. Thankfully, I had a bad reaction to it as I hear, on this board, this med is hard to get off of too. I chose to slow my taper even more with longer holds to help reduce the "risk" of seizure. I know this is why pdocs prescribe it as a safety net for seizure risk.

I personally, did not want any other med to come off of after the klonopin hell is over with.

And I'm not too sure how risky it is not to take a seziure med, but many of the buddies on here shared their stories and that is why I stayed away from it.

I had not just a horrible, but a gods-awful reaction to it. In most people, it does something for pain, sleep, and/or anxiety. For me, it was like a meth overdose.

But don't let me scare you off. I quit taking most pharmaceuticals because my reactions have almost always been different than normal people's. My chemistry is just weird.

I've been taking it for nerve pain for years. It made me very drowsy at first. Other than that, no bad reaction. I sometimes take a very large dose if I'm having a pain flare or if I have to do something stressful like go on a long car ride on the highway to see a specialist. It usually helps me get through those kind of things.

However, many people habituate to it quickly and it stops working. Then they just have another drug to taper. I don't think it's doing anything for me any more at my regular dose. It will be the next drug I taper.

There's a gabapentin withdrawal support group you might want to read. If you post there, someone will probably respond. Of course, those are the people who have trouble with it.
