Anticholenergic drugs and dementia

It’s not just dementia ANticholic activity is side effect of AP and some other psychotropics.

They cause dry secretions and tenacious sputum, a common cause of chest infections in all ages particularly the elderly.

When I complained about these side effects to my ENT consultant he just said drink more-)

 

Quetiapine which I was on is commonly used in the elderly confused.

 

Hence the name chemical cosh in the uk.
