request 4 math check: modified formula 4 liquid micro taper (quetiapine)

If you go to a compound pharmacy, you can get a liquid form of Seroquel made.  Here is a sample compound pharmacy "recipe" for Seroquel.

REQUEST: for any math wizards out there...i need someone else's eyes to check my math and make sure i haven't made any glaring or small mistakes...

 

okay so i decided to [glow=red,2,300]modify[/glow] this formula in regards to mg per ml.

the original compounding formula for 40mg per ml total volume: 100ml quetiapine (Seroquel) was:

 

quetiapine 4g = 4000mg total

25mg pills (160 count)

 

saccharin sodium 100mg

Necta Sweet Saccharin Sugar Substitute 1/4 Grain 1000 Tablets

one 1/4 grain tablet has 16.2mgs of sodium saccharin

 

butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) 100mg

Life Enhancement Bht Plus 100 Caps by Life Enhancement

Each capsule of BHT PlusTM contains 180 mg of BHT

 

silica gel, micronized  3g (silicon dioxide)

MakingCosmetics - Silica - 1.8oz / 50g - Cosmetic Ingredient

 

peppermint oil 3ml

Now Essential Oils, Peppermint Oil, 1-Ounce

 

sweet almond oil 100ml

Now Solutions Sweet Almond Oil, 4-Ounce

 

 

...but i found out it was really hard to measure out the correct doses on my tapering schedule with the syringes, so i changed the formula by multiplying the amounts of everything except for the quetiapine pills by four...so now it looks like this:

 

quetiapine 4g = 4000mg total  (left this part the same)

25mg pills (160 count) (just counted my pills and realized i have way more 50mg pills than 25mg pills so i changed this part to 50mg pills (80 count)

 

saccharin sodium 400mg

Necta Sweet Saccharin Sugar Substitute 1/4 Grain 1000 Tablets

one 1/4 grain tablet has 16.2mgs of sodium saccharin (25 tabs=405mg)

 

butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) 400mg

Life Enhancement Bht Plus 100 Caps by Life Enhancement

Each capsule of BHT PlusTM contains 180 mg of BHT (2 & 1/4 capules = 405mg)

 

silica gel, micronized  12g (silicon dioxide)

MakingCosmetics - Silica - 1.8oz / 50g - Cosmetic Ingredient (12g = .4 oz)

 

peppermint oil 12ml

Now Essential Oils, Peppermint Oil, 1-Ounce (12ml = .4oz)

 

sweet almond oil 400ml

Now Solutions Sweet Almond Oil, 16-Ounce (400ml = 13.5oz) about 3/4 of a 16oz bottle

 

...so now each batch will be made up as 400ml liquid suspension in 4 of the 100ml pharmacy bottles i bought, a total of 53 day supply.

 

so now instead of 40mg per ml of liquid compounded suspension, (if i did my math right), it will be 10mg per ml of liquid compounded suspension.

SO MUCH EASIER TO MEASURE OUT DOSES!

 

quetiapine 4g = 4000mg total in 400ml liquid suspension mixture

(in other words 4000mg per 400ml, or  40:4 or 10:1 =10mg/1ml)

10mg =1ml

9mg = .9ml

8mg = .8ml

7mg = .7ml

6mg = .6ml

5mg = .5ml

4mg = .4ml

3mg = .3ml

2mg = .2ml

1mg = .1ml

.9mg= .09ml

.8mg= .08ml

etc...
