My Fatigue is pretty bad, not crushing but I'm about 50% of what I once was before the benzos.  After reading these posts I find myself realizing I  have similar findings with sleep and fatigue. I have sleep apnea also and use a cpap .  Before the benzos and before being  treated for sleep apnea I would wake up very tired all the time.  When I don't get good sleep I'm very fatigued,

I want to keep this thread going....so, as well as the crushing fatigue, do you also suffer really bad weakness and hardly able to do anything physical?

For those with adrenal fatigue and low cortisol you can take adrenal cortex capsules.  They do not contain any hormones but they contain the raw nutrients required to support the adrenals. Also can use the adrenal cocktail - vit c, sea salt, - the adrenals use more vitamin c than any other organ in the body and they also love salt, and this will help to keep your blood pressure up.

How far off are you guys and still suffering this fatigue.  Mine started about one year off and I am just about 2 years off and the fatigue has been really bad in the last 6 months.

Also for fatigue I am taking yerba mate, the south American herb for fatigue.  I have only just started it so the jury is out.  I was on yerba mate tea and only had a bit of improvement in energy so gone over to capsules.

I have one coffee on the morning but don't want to drink any more as it stresses the adrenals.

OK, keep us posted.

My fatigue started around the 1 year mark too and has gotten progressively worse. I have a hard time doing physical things and sometimes the exhaustion makes me nauseous. My cortisol tested off the chart high in the mornings. I’ve tried phosphatidyl serine and seriphos to no avail. Lately I’ve been getting some relief, not quite windows, but lessening of the fatigue. I’ve been drinking rooibos tea and it’s either coincidental or it’s helping. I’ll take it either way.  I’ll try to up my vit C intake.

It is so weird that the fatigue gets worse.  I would like to know what causes it.

You can try some holy basil for high cortisol - highly recommended by those with high cortisol.  How is the rooibos tea helping?

Take care

I know, it’s really frustrating that it gets worse instead of better. Crazy. The rooibos supposedly helps with cortisol. Maybe it’s helping my sleep? I don’t feel as unrested. Could just be a coincidence though.

Extreme fatigue,  exhausted for a couple of hours. Have had this in march/ April,  not really during the summer months, but now it's back! Mine is a strange one, in that it starts out of the blue and ends after an hour or two, three quickly again too. During that period I feel like dying.  Don't know what started it again, maybe stress from having a MRI-SCAN done. Plus I began to taper again after holding for a month. Also, I have been doing more walking lately. ( nothing crazy, just 10 minutes or so.)  Having Fibromyalgia probably doesn't help...

Hi all,

I started this group due to my two years of such horrible fatigue. I would get up in the morning only to lie on the sofa all day!

Was on Klonopine 1 mg and Paxil 30 mg for twelve years. Finally my doctor tapered me off Paxil while putting me on Zoloft. As the Zoloft kicked in I noticed the fatigue started slowly getting better. Now I’m completly off the Paxil, on 75 mg Zoloft and down to 5 mg Valium and feel better, not perfect but much better.

Just thought I’d throw this out here in case someone else has been on Antidepressants. Without the Zoloft I don’t think I could have gotten the Valium down as I would get so dizzy without lots of Benzo’s.

I hope this may help someone from going through the hell I did!

Mark

I've been hammered with crushing fatigue since the beginning of my taper over a year ago. My typical day involves alternating bouts of trying to get a little work done from home and taking naps every couple of hours or atleast laying down to regain my strength. This nightmare has forced me to leave my full time business and work from home. These episodes of fatigue are extremely scary it literally feels like someone is draining the blood out of me! I also have problems standing for more than 15 minutes without my blood pressure rising and making me dizzy and anxious does anyone else suffer like this??

Standing for a couple of minutes is all I manage. I just have to sit down again by then. Because I get dizzy spells I do most of my walking inside. Walking for 5 minutes once an hour or so,  to get at least some exercise. My Fibromyalgia is really bad and the Diazepam isn't helping the fatigue either. This week I started on Lexapro (1mg) to try and stop my morning anxiety.  Makes me nauseous and sleepy. Anyone with extreme fatigue ever  had any bloodwork for Lyme 's disease done? I'm going to have that done next week.

Crushing fatigue today. I’m positive it’s benzos because it has gone away a few times with quality sleep. It’s amazing that this is so severe for so long.

I tested positive for lyme years ago and was treated with antibiotics for a year straight that's how I ended up on benzos. This feels much worse than the lyme ever did.

Suffering with a horrible wave of fatigue, but can’t rest. The worst thing ever - exhaustion but inability to rest. What helps you?? Suffering here.

DBM, same here. When it hits me, I can only do one thing: go to bed. But I find it really hard to even do that. Just trying to survive the wave and hope it passes soon. Ahhh!

Me too, man. I had a window not long ago, so this wave is a huge letdown. But I can always remember the window feeling and realize that this crap ends. We’ll make it!

Not much going on here: does that mean nobody is fatigued anymore or are we all just to tired to be posting?  My fatigue is just getting worse. It's almost undoable the last couple of days. I wake up at 4.30am. in pain, very tired and have this crushing fatigue almost all day long. Can only just prepare meals and that's about it. Chair to sofa, to bed, back to chair. To tired to do anything. I pray this goes away asap.

.Pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety. This is not how life is supposed to be.

I still have it, Troch. A sickening exhaustion running through my body. It’s not tiredness. It’s something different. I know it’s connected to whether I get real sleep or not. Im considering getting a sleep study, but don’t want to waste the money.

The sleep we get isn't at all recharging the battery. It's just being unconscious for a while.  You're right: it's not tiredness,  it's a completely different animal!  Hope we may recover. Good luck to you!

Hi Trochsetter - Could you possibly have ME/CFS?  With your history of fibromyalgia, unrefreshing sleep, concern about Lyme, and the unremitting bone crushing fatigue, it might be something to consider.  I just started a support group thread for people who have a firm dx of ME/CFS -  no responses yet because I'm hoping to attract people who KNOW they have ME/CFS and had it before benzos.  I put some info links on there you might want to check out.

But lots of conditions can cause severe fatigue, including Sleep Apnea and thyroid issues.  I have both of those too (both  are under control) along with ME/CFS.

I just started my Xanax taper a month ago, and  I do feel a new kind weakness and tiredness that I  attribute to the withdrawal.    Fatigue is a strange thing because there's so many different types.  I felt it differently with the sleep apnea before it was treated, and also when my thyroid is low.  And when I've been anemic it was even a different kind of tiredness.  But the fatigue with ME/CFS is a whole other species.  It feels like my cells are made out of lead.  It permeates my whole being.  And all the debilitating accompanying symptoms that go with ME/CFS are the reason why we've lobbied to get the name changed.

I hope this turns out to "just" be the benzo withdrawal for you though.  From what everyone says here, the fatigue is pretty gnarly but it does eventually go away.

Hi BlessedHope, something to take into consideration. It did cross my mind before, of course. It could be lots of other things as well. I didn't have it before getting on benzos. It started earlier this year and went away for a while. Tired yes, but fatigued not so much. It started again in August / September after I started having more abdominal issues again.  Seeing a specialist in a couple of weeks about that. Wishing you all the best!

Hi Trochstter, With such a short fatigue duration that only started after benzos, I wouldn’t be worrying about ME/CFS at this point. I’m sorry for alarming you - I thought this had gone on much longer.

The official CDC criterion requires a minimum of 6 months of severe fatigue that reduces daily activity by at least 50%, in addition to a list of other specific symptoms. Plus, every other possible cause for those symptoms (which are many) has to be first ruled out through a boatload of testing.

Best of luck to you in getting free from benzos- I’m sure you’ll be feeling better when you do. 😀

Hi fatigued people,  how have you been doing?  Not much going on here. My fatigue is really awful again. Exhaustion is a better word. Had a couple of days feeling less worn out, but now it's back again. Last night I had very little sleep and today the fatigue is overwhelming. Can barely stand or walk a bit. Makes me very worried. Is it a wave or is there an underlying cause? Did any of you have tests done to rule out other causes?  I have an appointment with the stomach, liver,  colon specialist in two weeks time. Already anxious about that. Hope it's withdrawal that causes my belly issues and fatigue. Stay strong.

Hi,

Today is exactly two months after the last entry on here. And it was mine.

Remarkable,  that nobody else has posted since. Don't you feel fatigued and exhausted anymore?

I surely do. The last two weeks I have had days with horrible exhaustion. Felt like I was going to die. Unbelievable.

Can this be benzo related or is it cancer?  I don't know what to think anymore.

Anyone else has this exhaustion?

I know exactly how you are feeling. I feel completely exhausted. Some days worse than others. The days following a night I don’t sleep well are the worse. Never felt like this before withdrawal so I just keep on keeping on and hope that in time ,after I am benzo free, I can start healing from all this damage. Stay strong. I do know exactly how you feel. It truly is tough. 🦋
