Anticipating inter-dose withdrawal symptoms

I’m at 1.75mg Ativan daily with symptoms minimized and ready to move to 1.5.  My biggest issue (which seems very common with Ativan) is the waves of anxiety between doses at the worst when waking up and late afternoon. I unfortunately do not have the option to cross taper with Valium so I am stuck with this gap.

Any suggestions or techniques to relieve the anticipatory anxiety for when these inter-dose waves occur?

Can you taper smaller doses over a longer period of time?  I did not taper (forced CT).  The anxiety is normal withdrawal symptom .
