I'm glad that you decided to join the forum. Our members have gone through benzodiazepine use and withdrawal themselves, so you'll find plenty of information and support here.

The Ashton Manual provides information that can be useful during any stage of withdrawal and recovery, and includes a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations.

For those who are currently tapering, a starting guideline is that the dosage not be reduced faster than by 5-10% every 10-14 days, although some taper even more slowly than that. One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper somewhat faster.

Hi Hans!

Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

My suggestion is that you go slowly, don’t hurry your taper, after all you were many years on benzos, so take your time.

Best wishes.

Thanks Leslie :smitten:

You’re very welcome!

I’m always happy to greet a fellow Swede. I am only a Swede born in New York, but my family came from Stockholm. :mybuddy:

Hello Hans,

I am from Argentina, so far away from your country! But we share the same issues with the benzos and also of being a long tiume user!!!...

I am happily off the meds since 5 months, after one year of struggling (I still have with many symptoms).

I would suggest you to follow the Ashton manual, that helped me a lot!

Also this site is a great source of information and support...

Please stay in touch.

Rodolfo

Hans,

I think you’ve done really well and if you continue slowly will succeed I am sure.

Do give yourself a pat on the back and welcome.

Yours

Dick.

Hans,

No one is a hopeless case!  You can do this!  I like your analogy of “head in a microwave” as my brain feels fried.  Temporary, wd symptom!
