Can depression develop while taking Ativan for 8 months

Hello everyone,

I’m still waiting for an appointment to see psychiatrist to get me crossed over to a longer acting benzo and believe I have developed depression.  I have no motivation to do anything but I force myself as much I can; go to gym, get out of the house, take walks.  I think my body is just wearing down from all the interdose withdrawals I’ve had to deal with all along and the Ativan does nothing for me anymore.

Just some words of advice or encouragement would be appreciated, my husband has become distant but I’m not mad at him, I know it’s hard on him too.

Benzos, by design, are powerful depressant drugs.  It's an intended  therapeutic effect.

Long term use will almost certainly lead to depression.

Thank you Builder, it’s only been the last couple weeks so my crossover to Valium or Klonopin or Librium is very pressing, appointment on the 23rd to start the process.  It’s the interdose that’s making days so hard and Ativan has no therapeutic effect anymore it seems.

May I get your advice on the above?
