[Fi...]
I hope it's beneficial, I wonder if the new molecule is supposed to be a remedy for other symptoms besides memory?
[Ho...]
Not available for a long time. "The molecules are expected to advance into the clinical research stage in two years." That means they will start trials in humans in 2 years. The time to having it available for marketing will be much later than that. They are still doing animal testing at this point. Guest [...]
Yes, unfortunately it won't be available in the near future. They generally talk about cognitive functions and mood. I guess memory impairments are emphasized because it's the most striking symptom related to ageing. I'm not familiar with how the GABA system works though and perhaps this might solve only some issues, nonetheless it looks promising.
[Te...]
I would ask cs123 about this. I'm interested in seeing what he says regardless of when it's starting human trials.
[Fi...]
The OP linked articles and an abstract referencing some benzodiazepine derivatives currently being studied. I want to add this article which may more fully explain the referenced benzodiazepine derivatives' effect on specific GABAA-R subunits: "Novel Benzodiazepine-Like Ligands with Various Anxiolytic, Antidepressant, or Pro-Cognitive Profiles" https://www.karger.com/Article/PDF/496086 "...Here, we designed, tested, and validated preclinical efficacies of novel IBZD amide ligands acting as DZP derivatives with a low side effect profile..." Edit: Also these references: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GL-II-73 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imidazenil
