Are Benzodiazepines the Next Opioid Crisis?

It felt to me that even though the word addiction wasn't mentioned it was strongly implied.

What about the article made you think it was strongly implied?

Very wise article. I liked for eg his question "if our profession is to move beyond the simplistic notion that all emotional pain can be eliminated with the swipe of our pens on our prescription pads, how then do we help our patients change their relationship with the experience of suffering?". In general, I like the fact that he has doubts and asks questions. It's an exercise of humility, the beginning of change.

This: " I’ve also had patients angrily storm out of my office when I refused to prescribe a benzodiazepine. I have colleagues who rarely prescribe benzodiazepines and have had patients fire them because of their unwillingness to prescribe these medications."
