Does drinking alcohol hurt your recovery?

Does drinking alcohol moderately delay or hurt your protracted withdrawal symptoms? I can’t find any information on alcohol. Please let me know if drinking 2 beers a day hurts your recovery.

It is generally accepted by most people that drinking any alcohol in WD is a very bad idea.

yes absolutely. Even my neurologist told me not to drink whilst withdrawing or during recovery time

It’s been a year and I think a few sips is ok now. I won’t drink more than that.

Everything I’ve read says alcohol hinders recovery.  I wouldn’t risk it.

From someone who drank over half of bottle of red last night while out for dinner with friends. The most I've drunk in a long time. I'm not feeling good today, not hungover but WD symptoms have magnified. I don't think I'll be drinking for a while. I'm just 5 weeks off benzos and what I'm experiencing today is unsettling. Probably best not to drink alcohol at all. Good luck in your recovery.

They call alcohol a liquid benzo for a reason, it targets the same receptors. From personal experience I can tell you that not drinking this time is making an enormous difference. We can do much to help ourselves, but mainly through avoidance.
