Ativan Direct Dry Taper, End advice

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I am almost done my Ativan taper.  At the beginning of my Ativan taper I was cutting the way my doctors recommended and ended up in the psych ward. After that experience I started tapering on my own at 5% every 2 weeks.  Below are the numbers of when I reinstated back to 4.50mg and every number tapered onwards at 5%.  I dry cut my Ativan, because I can’t do a liquid taper.  So I actually cut my Ativan pills which I’m really good at it.  This taper has been going on for a year and a half.

Because I am dry cutting I can’t really go down by 5% anymore because for example 5% of 0.30mg is 0.29mg, and there is too much variable in dry cutting for that to make sense.  I am now going down by 0.05mg every 10 days which right now is at 8% and is way more than I’m used to and way shorter of a time that I am used to.  I’m having very bad anxiety and depression and super bad fatigue and dizziness.  I HAVE to go back to work April 15 even though my taper if I do it every 10 days would not be finished until the beginning of June.  I’m not sure how I’ll be able to work through the rest of this taper.  I’m thinking I’ll probably cut 0.05mg every 2 weeks to 1 month in order to not jepordize my career. Is this too slow?  On top of that my doctor said she wasn’t going to give me any more pills after March which is pretty messed up.  I am not an addict I’ve never abused these drugs, I have a downward trend of doses I’m not sure why she would do that.  I’m freaking out.  The reason why I have been cutting every 10 days is because of her, because I feel so much pressure from her to get off of them. What do you guys think?  Has anyone had experience doing a dry Ativan taper?  How much did you cut and how often?

Also if anyone is curious to see how the rest of my taper looks like

Priya, not sure where you are right now, but would your dr. write you a prescription for liquid lorazepam? It’s got to be doubly difficult for you when your dr. says she’ll not write any more prescriptions after March. I see your post was written Jan. 26-are you holding at the same dose?

P.S. If I could ask, how are you making such  accurate dry cuts?

I have been dry cutting 2 mg of Ativan since last June. I have doing it by weight with Gemini scale and X-Acto knife. I am currently down by weight to .089 which I think is around 75 mg .  First cut was 25% by the doctor,  I held 2 1/2 months. Then tried and informs taper on my own at 10% which was still extremely hard. Then gradually drop to 5% which helped. Since the year started I have done between seven and 9% and it’s really hitting me. But I want to be off so desperately this fall. You are doing an amazing job tapering and I certainly believe you could do this. I believe next week I’m going to start reducing .  001 g Every three days.  I am hoping this will help ease the withdrawals. I have all the same chronic fatigue, dizziness, pain so you are not alone 💗
