You know you're RECOVERING WHEN ...

...you don't think about benzo withdrawal every minute, or even every hour, and every once in a while you go a whole day living your life without it crossing your mind.

...when you look forward to the next day, knowing it will be challenging, as another day to conquer, as another step closer to being done! ❤

I'm going to be a bit more philosophical.

You know you are recovering from benzo withdrawal when you can accomplish much more than the day before and not feel lousy all day (like in a "window").

When you can remember what you're doing while you're doing it.

Versus forgetting what you're doing while you're doing it.

+1 to this.

When I could first pick up my spoon again to feed myself

When I took my first steps again

When I could bathe myself again

When I could sleep again

When I could do 3 body squats

When I could drive the scooter at the store

When I could push the grocery cart again

When I could drive again

When I returned the wheelchair!

When I could lift 3 pound weights again, then 5, then 10

When I could play with my family again

When I could cook again

When I could shoot hoops again

When I could finally put earbuds in and listen to music again!

When I could actually live again :smitten:

...when most of the time you keep thinking of problems how to make your life better and make plans, instead of being thrown from one symptom into the next!

... and when you manage to move forward, each day a little bit more...

... and: when you cry, each time you could achieve something!!!!!

Your post is the only thing that's given me any hope in the last 6 months, as I also read your signature line & while you don't go into detailed physical sxs, you do mention physical pain, to which I relate.  Does this post mean that you are able to be doing these things listed, now, or still in "hope" phase?  ~  Thank You.

Awww, hey Cuz,

Yeah these are all things I can do again now!

I am getting ready to post like a little update for the new year.  I kind of had a game changer for my nerve pain 2 months ago with med for it. It sucks taking something for it, but my nerve issues were keeping me from using my limbs period. Anyway, I'll try and post tomorrow under the post withdrawal recovery board.

I see that you are also an ex-ativan buddy as well, feel free to PM me if you like :)

When you can wake up without having to lie in bed for 2-3 hours because your brain is dead and you feel so sick.

When you can laugh without faking it.

When you can think of perhaps planning for your future.

When you're well enough to join the protests.

That’s funny, because I keep asking myself that: do I feel well enough that I could join a protest today? Because the cause means so much and I’d love to participate but I think I’m not quite there yet, I have my nose pressed against the window. The fact that I’m well enough to even deliberate is a good sign of healing!

When I get on BB reading positive threads like this and laughing....instead of searching for threads of people who have sxs like mine so I know I am not dying.

I loled. So glad I decided to go through this thread today. You guys are doing an awesome job. Really good stuff in here. I don't think you folks need moderation at all, I am just going to enjoy this thread. :smitten: :smitten:

When you take care of your 5 and 7 year old grandchildren for a week, with only your spouse for help, even though your in a wave, and the children survive and you don't loose them or forget they're  in your home and remember to feed them, and even get in 1 trip to the park and library.  (Did that last week)

When you stop cancelling every appointment you have made the day before your scheduled to go to X because you know you will probably wet yourself with panic if you go. You know you will get through it no matter what withdraw throws at you.
