Taper amitriptyline before ativan?

Should I taper amitriptyline first, then ativan?

Hello- From what I’ve read on here, you always want to taper the benzo first.

Yep, ditto. I am on a low dose of amitriptylene for headaches, myself, and want off it, and every doc I have spoken to has said benzo first.

I was on a low dose of amitriptyline when I started my taper. I went from 20mg of Valium to 6.5mg in about 10 months. Went fairly smoothly compared to most. Decided I would try to get off the amitriptyline at the same time. Did a fairly quick taper. Within two months all hell broke loose and I am still struggling six months later. I have a number of times contemplated going back on the amitriptyline despite deep reservations just to try to get through the Valium taper. If I could go back I would not have stopped the amitriptyline when I did.
