With all the symptoms we endure......

Oh hell no., FM. You do not die from benzo WDS unless you seize so much that you DO die! And that happens so rarely its not in the realm of possibility. One on a million cases.

BWD can be so severe you do think you might not live through it. Symptoms can be so incredibly bad, that one does wonder if death is near. But the truth is that death rarely occurs from BWD.

BWD is a PROCESS. It takes time and patience and endurance top get through it. I know it is scary. I know it feels just awful. But BWD does end. And when it finally does end, you will find that you are much stronger an tougher than you were on benzos.

I may have worded this the wrong way.  And, should have said can you be so Extremely Sensitive that you don’t heal?  Symptoms are just tooo intense.

Absolute nonsense FM. That is BWD talking, not YOU. Everyone can heal from this as long as they stick to it. There ARE going to be people with "other issues" at work that will affect them emotionally. Other mental health issues may be at work in some people. And it can be hard to figure out this, when reading others posts.

I absolutely believe that everyone can heal from benzos. After that, it is up to the individual to do the hard work of repairing themselves emotionally.

I [personally like the 12 Steps. And you do not have to go to meetings to practice them. Just read them and get comfortable with them. I have found that over time, the 12 Steps helped me immensely after getting off benzos.

Sweetheart, some people just have an awful time getting off benzos. No one knows whywas one and you are too. So what? Stick with it, and start trying to help others, bec ause that alone will jack up your healing.

Mary: thank you!!! Honesty is something I learned going through BWD. I finally realized that lying to myself and others was just hurting me. Yes. I tend to be blunt. Sometimes that is needed.

A "kick in the pants" is kind of what I mean. Some of us (ME included) need a kick in the rear to get back on track.

Can you die from all these symptoms?  I’m wondering because they seem to be mounting by the day.

FM

I had a number of seizures, lived, and returned to being fully functional.  Also, I almost died twice from add on medication issues.  A 50 mg. dose of Phenergan for nausea caused severe respiratory distress which stopped my breathing completely intermittently (not *just* hyperventilating or *just* trouble breathing which are both bad enough).  Propranalol for migraines added to Librium lowered my blood pressure to a deathly level.  Was I just imagining I was near death in re to these two separate occasions?  Not according to the medical professionals.  Of course, I am not saying such meds would affect all this way, but it is my personal truth, thus I feel it important to warn others of such possible adverse horrid reactions.  In regards to rare adverse reactions in general, including near fatal ones, rare obviously never means never.

Am I trying to unnecessarily scare anyone?  No.  I am trying to warn others to exercise caution in deciding to take any medications prescribed.  I am also trying to warn others to monitor their blood pressure if an Rx is known to possibly affect blood pressure in any extreme fashion.  I put blind trust in Rxs without having been warned.  Also, through much of this ordeal, I was too ill to do much in-depth research on my own.

The extreme physiological suffering endured by too many is very real.  :-[  Wishing you the best, Fighting4Me.  The odds are still in your favor for much better things ahead.  I'm living proof of such.  This is not to say my life is gloriously trouble-free now in every which way, but my gosh, compared to before during this ordeal, light years ahead now.

RX Damaged,

I feel for you, and appreciate your honesty. It takes guts to share this sort of stuff. I did and doing so helped me greatly. I was over medicated for 30 years. Most often, SELF medicated - on benzos obtained illegally. That is the truth and I try not to lie now. I am an RN and had access to benzos back before they were not "counted": or controlled much. I helped myself and became addicted although I did not know I was. I think I thought I was immune from addiction. LOL! NOT! I only took benzos for insomnia. Only at night, never ibn the day time.

Over time, benzos began to affect my health, but because I did not know benzos do this, I thought I had some other disease. I started taking benzos in 1982, and by 2000, I began having more serious health issues. I sought help from specialists. I was told I might have MS, Parkinsons, Lou

Gerhrigs,, and a bunch of other horrible diseases. I believed them, because I did not know benzos could cause all this stuff!

Once I got totally off benzos, my health slowly began to improve. I am now 68 and FAR healthier than I have been for so many years. And all of those unhealthy years were due to benzos and ADS. I  used to take maybe 12 meds a day. Now I take THREE and all are for hypertension. Going through this proved to me that assuming some pill will help you is nonsense and potentially lethal.

RXDamaged, you sound like an interesting person. I'd like to chat with you in private. Feel free to PM me.

.

The only time I have ever been in hospital, I had two Dr 's giving me meds, one for what would now not even be considered high blood pressure, the other for migraines.  They both had lists of all my meds.  Husband rushed me to er where I ended up in ICU for 3 days.  Blood pressure dropped like a rock, feel into 50 something over 40 something.  Survived that , being in intensive care was horrible experience only for my migraine Dr to call and tell me, a couple months later and take magnesium, blood pressure dropped again like a rock, but they got in under control before I ended up in intensive care again.  But now, every time a Dr prescribes something, I will ask is this going to effect my blood

pressure , almost every time they say no and I come home, look it up and don't fill the prescriptions.  You have to be your own advocate, look where we are now.  I have dr's roll their eyes at me all the time, I just stare them down.  After this novel, I am just telling you why I agree with RxDamaged.  It would be wonderful if Dr's knew everything and I guess we can't expect them too, but you should be able to expect them to research your questions.  I'm done.  I love you all, please research your meds.

Mary, ☮️🙏💜

Mary, You have been through quite an ordeal. Me, too. Benzos almost killed me plus being wayyy over medicated on ADS, and other drugs.

I am so glad you survived and so glad you are here to help someone else. Thank you.

Mary, I think you are a special person here. You always sound so sane, so careful and gentle in how you say things. I am so glad BB has people like you, because it makes it all the nicer to be here. Benzo stuff can be very draining....so much sorrow and misery! It helps when BB has members like you. Kep up the good work. And consider becoming a Mod here.

Thanks eastcoast, I try to give the best advice I can without being critical, goodness knows this is hard enough, and I have made so many mistakes, I can always try to relate, and have empathy.  I appreciate you, thanks, Mary.

Mary, we are all in this leaky boat together. Weathering high seas and low seas, trying to stay afloat. We are each other's support, because our society does not recognize our problem as legitimate.

It can be a very rough ride. Was for me, and for so many others...countless people have been through horrible withdrawals. But those that survive and manage to thrive, often find their way here. I feel so those that don't, or cannot, use this forum.

Can you imagine how lost they must feel? I wonder how many souls out there have ended up on psych wards permanently because of benzo WD.

I still marvel about how many people DO find their way here. Or to the Facebook support group. I am so glad I found BB! I trust that what I have read here is TRUE, and have gotten through a lengthy WD that was quite severe, and only with the help of what I learned here.

Another day ends, and a new day will start....

east :) :)
