The Shawshank Redemption

I watched the movie The Shawshank Redemption when it was in the theaters in 1994. The story seemed so far away from my life, so excitingly exotic. I had no idea that it tells as a metaphor the story of a struggle that awaited me and that I had no idea at the time.

I often thought of that movie as a motivation to go on during my worst benzo hell moments. Bedbound for months, housebound for years, pain, hallucinations, bloody diarrhea, many other symptoms. Now that I hope that this nightmare is finishing (or another long window?), I can watch again this movie that helped me so much mentally. And cry... with tears of victory.
