Help with xanax tapering

I am on 0.25 miligrams of Xanax once a day - i have tapered since maj 2018. I have tried to cut them. I have had terrible withdrawls and i would like to try the water titration. Could anyone help me please . Not sure how to do it. My doctor says there is no way i am having withdrawls on this small does. but I am sure I am.
