"A website created by a Nova Scotia pharmacist aims to help Canadians wean themselves off sleeping pills by teaching them how to treat insomnia without drugs.

David Gardner, also a professor in the department of psychiatry at Dalhousie University in Halifax, said the side effects associated with sleeping pills are costing the healthcare system money when there is an effective alternative.

Gardner has designed a website, called mysleepwell.ca, which aims to teach people how to use cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) instead of pills."

I like the idea, not to take a pill for that. Good for the people.

But I think there are some points missing: People who are suffering from insomnia need naps to survive. They will be too tired to do that procedure. And another article on that site claims that tapering the sleeping pill is the last step (that made me lough) - so all would start over again. I would start to taper the sleeping pill, how should one create a sleep ritual while still taking the pill?! The ritual would be swallow the pill...

But I dont complain - its so good they try to overthink the medication
