I was awake for 6 days , they put me on Quetiapine 200mg and mirtazapine (remeron) 15mg and continued my zopiclone

15 days later I'm in a worse state now I have 3 addictions!

I can't sleep when I stop using them

I’m wondering if you could stop the quetiapine CT after just 15 days. Or do a really quick taper. If you are not psychotic, quetiapine is used for sleep off-label. I suppose mirt is safer and very effective for sleep. Maybe you could taper this small dose of zopiclone on mirt only. Zopiclone screws up your sleep for sure. Besides, I don’t know how ppl are able to fall asleep at all on this crappy z-drug.

Unless you’re willing to CT zopiclone, while staying on mirt and quetiapine. That would be an even better solution. Then to taper quetiapine, while keeping mirt for sleep only. If you don’t mind weight gain, mirt should help you sleep in zopiclone WD.

You need to talk to an addiction/sleep specialist and discuss these and other possible scenarios. I’m sorry for what the psych ward has done to you. Try to fix an appointment with a good pdoc ASAP. While it’s not too late.

I got the same yesterday at my doc's office....I did not take it yet and the sleep is very little, an hour or two for some weeks now. I am just afraid to take this medicine and trazadone - she gave me this too.  She said to take Quetiapine as needed for agitation during the day...since i am agitated and got a few panic attacks in the last days. I am so lost, my situation being in a foreign country where i don't speak fluently the language....I am desperate at this point and afraid to take more meds. The oxazepam I am tapering off slowly after being reinstated following the detox is not helping almost at all....

So you took the meds and slept well but you don't want to take them anymore, is that right? Why if I may ask? I read it has many side effects and this is what I am afraid of...I am very sensitive to medications.

Hugs,

Mary

You could try a small dose of traz at bedtime first. It should calm you down a lot and help you sleep. Doesn’t make sense to start two psych meds at the same time, IMO. You won’t know which sxs you get from which one. Oxazepam isn’t working anymore as it used to, cause you hit tolerance.

You could start Seroquel instead of the traz, of course. But Seroquel is an AP. The traz should make you less agitated during the day. So you wouldn’t need Seroquel anymore. Seroquel during the day could make you very lethargic. It might help you fall asleep if taken at bedtime.

You could seek another opinion from an addiction specialist. If you start two new psych meds, you will have to taper them in the future. You only were on the BZD for 4 mos. Except that lorazepam is a particularly vicious one. You could also seek a pdoc who would cross you over to diazepam. It has a longer half-life than oxazepam. Oxazepam has a half-life of 4-15 hrs. Diazepam has a half-life of 20-100 (36-200) hrs. Take care.
